It's 30 degrees today and sunny.....the first fine day since we arrived in Paris.

Poor Tony is not feeling very well at all. We decided to have the morning in our apartment and take it easy. We wanted to post some things back home.....the idea was so that we could purchase more goodies! With that duty out of the way we did a Skype call on my ipad to Kate and Craig (my children). It was lovely chatting to them and all is well back home.....our unit hasn't burnt down and they've cleaned up after every party they've had lol!

Before we left for our holiday one of the things I wanted to do was to go to a Chanel boutique.....my all time favourite designer...and get a photo of me outside but it looked like we were running out of time and with Tony not well I thought it wasn't going to happen. Kate asked me if I'd been to Chanel yet....I said no....but she encouraged me to go!
Today has been a day of many French experiences. Our first was we finally experienced an arrogant waiter. We went to have lunch at a little cafe just round the corner from us and as soon as Tony said Bonjour! Parlez-vous anglais? (do you speak english?) the waiter proceeded to mumble very fast something in French and looked very annoyed. He walked off and got another waiter to serve us who couldn't really understand us either but we ordered and ate and it was enjoyable. When we asked the waiter for the bill he ignored us and another waiter came out with it. We paid and left and said Mercie! Au! to him and he ignored us again.....we thought it was hilarious and had a good chuckle.

Our second French experience ...... With Tony still feeling a lot better we decided to go to Chanel. So we caught the metro and was there in a matter of minutes......Oh! my what an experience. To give you another history lesson.....Opening her first shop on Paris’s Rue Cambon in 1910, Chanel started out selling hats. She later added stores in Deauville and Biarritz and began making clothes. Her first taste of clothing success came from a dress she fashioned out of an old jersey. Jersey in those days was only used for mens underwear!

I had the experience of trying on a 5,000 euro ($7,000) jacket that was absolutely exquisite and to die for. I felt so special. The assistants looked very elegant wearing black and a Chanel bumbag and as soon as I tried the jacket on I had an assistant beside me in a flash wanting to help me. I was looking for a special pair of sunglasses for Kate but the assistant said they were only available in their London store. Sorry Kate! But I couldn't leave without buying something so I bought a beautiful lipstick and nail polish. You wouldn't believe the store was packed with buyers.....so there is still a lot of money out there. There was even a lady there with her dog on a leash......only in Paris. So with my Chanel purchases in hand and a big contented smile on my face we went across the street to a cafe and had an expresso at the bar which cost us 1 euro each.....our third French experience.

This is similar to the jacket I tried on.

Because of the sunny warm day and being Saturday, everywhere was just buzzing with people. We walked through the Jardin des Tuileries. These gardens were first laid out as part of the Tuileries Palace adjacent to the Louvre. The gardens were built in 1564.

Tony relaxing and feeling better! I love his t-shirt!

Next stop was having a beer at a Canadian pub.....not very French but it was nice hearing a lot of English being spoken.

We walked back through the Latin quarter and bought a croissant and apple crumble slice .... our fourth French experience......and sat by the Seine for a while to rest our weary feet watching people and boats go by.

Sorry about the long blog today but we had such a fantastic day with lots of great experiences......and we thought it was going to be a quiet day!
Tomorrow is our last day in Paris......we shall drink lots of French champagne and have a great day I'm sure!
