Our day started out with a thunder storm and very rainy. But my brother said 'Let's go sailing anyway it can only get better' My bro forever the optimist and enthusiast and it paid off! So off we went with our eskies of food and a FEW alcoholic beverages to get the bus to the ferry at Discovery Bay and over to Kong Kong to catch a taxi to the yacht club......what a funny trip that was. There were 8 of us on the yacht. We had a skipper on board but because Geoff and his 2 mates knew how to sail they took turns at the wheel. Because there was no wind we motored our of the harbour and headed to half way round the island where we were going to drop anchor and have lunch and a swim.
No this is not our sailing boat.....this little boat that took us out to the big boat....my bro says it's a 42' sloop......yep whatever!
It's amazing how many people live on Hong Kong but the island is still very lush with trees. There are soooooo many high rises and some buildings are perched precariously on the side of the mountain. It's just incredible how the y don't fall over. And they are very tall and very skinny. I feel like the girl from the bush going to the big city. But I must say the water is full of rubbish .... It's such a shame and so sad they don't do anything to fix the problem.
We dropped anchor at a small inlet on the other side of Hong Kong and sat back and ate a beautiful lunch which consisted of chicken, homemade bread, salad, watermelon, oranges and the odd bottle of beverage. We had to wait sometimes till the rubbish went by before we went swimming.....yukk! But the water was beautiful and cool on the very hot day.
Here are the highlights of the day.....
I noticed the girls had gorgeous toes....just had to get a photo.
This is a fun park built on the side of the cliff.....amazing!!
Lol! Trying to look like I know what I'm doing.
The girls were the only ones who went swimming....
Thanks Marg for the sarong....it goes perfect with my bathers.
So with full tummies and refreshed from the swim we set sail back to the harbour. The skippers decided not to use the motor but to sail back. Wow! I'm experiencing a lot of first times.....never been sailing before so it was very exciting.
The smog is unbelievable!
This was our real skipper.....
...and this was the motley crew!
We ended the day with a drink at the ferry terminal before we boarded the ferry back to Disco Bay......There was lots of disco dancing happening by the end of the day. I was the only sober one.....you could say that was a bad thing but this morning I'm ready to go again. As for my bro and hubby they are a bit slow today...hahahaha!
Oh my! I think I need a holiday from my holiday.
